The Genesis of Gender

In this video, Mary Kassian takes us back to the creation story and God’s original design to discuss the differences between the sexes and why they exist. Watch her video to find out more about Snips and Snails—and what makes men and women tick!  Running time is 55:51.

Below is the outline that accompanies this video.  I tried my best to link the original pdf, but could not figure it out.  If someone can tell me how to do that for the next listeners guide, please let me know.

The Genesis of Gender Outline

Introduction:
Genesis lays out God’s blueprint for gender: Gender _________________ God (Isa. 43:7)
Creation displays two very important things about Him: (Rom. 1:20)

  • Person: Who God _______ (His Nature)
  • What God _________ (His Power)
Gender tells the _______________________ of the Gospel.

12 Markers of Manhood & Womanhood (Genesis 2)

1. The Male was Firstborn (v. 7)
Exercising godly __________________ and ____________________ is a big part of what manhood is all about.

2. The Male was put in the Garden (v.15)
The Lord set the male up to be the _______________ of a new family unit.

3. The Male was commissioned to Provide (v. 15)
Work contains the idea of __________________ someone other than oneself.

4. The Male was commissioned to Protect (v. 15)
The physical protection mirrors the ___________________ protection that God wants men to provide for their families.

5. The Male received Spiritual Instruction (vv. 16–17)
The man had a special ___________________ to learn and understand the ways of the Lord.

6. The Male learned to Exercise Authority (vv. 19–20)
The Lord wanted the male to learn to exercise his _______________ authority with gentleness, kindness, wisdom and much care.

7. The Female was created From the Male (vv. 21–22)
Because the woman was drawn from the man’s side, it was appropriate for her to have an attitude of __________________ towards him.

8. The Female was made For the Male (v. 18)
Being created “for someone” indicates that God created the female to be a highly _______________________ creature.

9. The Female was created to Help the Male (v. 18)
A woman helps a man achieve the purpose of _______________ the jaw-dropping magnificence of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the glory of God.

10. The Female deferred to the Male (vv. 22–23)
The Lord created woman with a bent to be amenable, relational and _______________. She is inclined to joyfully _______________.

11. The Female was the Perfect Counterpart (v. 23)
Man (Heb. ish) comes from the root meaning _______________ while woman (Heb. ishsha) comes from the root meaning _________________.

12. The Female was created in the Garden (v. 24)
The female—the softer, more vulnerable one—was created in the garden, in a place of ________________.

Women have a unique responsibility to the _________________.

“God has a spectacular design for your womanhood. He wants you to say ‘yes’ to His design. If you do, He will do an amazing work of restoration in your life.”

Why Gender Matters

Here are a couple of short videos on why gender matters taken from the True Woman 101 website.  You may watch them all in one setting (about 10 minutes total), watch them each as you have time, or just watch the one(s) that appeal to you... it's your choice!

This first one is called "Holly's Story" and is about 2 minutes long.

The second one called, "Gender Assault on Kids" is also about 2 minutes long.

Finally, this last one, "A Picture of Gender" is about 4 1/2 minutes long.

Psalm 103

Good morning Ladies,

God is good ALL the time! I know that we are all so grateful this morning for the safety of our family.

I want to take this time to express the opportunity this blog can hold for us if we use it! We would love for this to be a spot where you can express what God is doing in your life and ministry, your needs, Scriptures that are currently touching your heart, your favorite recipe that you would like to share, of course how God is using this present Bible study in your life and anything else that would edify the group.

The devastation from the last two days only makes us more aware of how much community means, even worldly community. How much more can we as Christian women help each other navigate the difficult, bewildering, and complicated trials of life. That's what Titus 2:3-5 is all about!

Many wonderful Scriptures come to mind today, but I will share this one,

James 4:13-14 (NASB) "13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away."

Pray that God would be glorified through this tragedy and that the unsaved would realize the shortness and uncertainty of life and seek God for salvation.

Carla reposted a Scripture on Facebook which says, "16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."--Hebrews 4:16.

Let's go boldly to His throne on behalf of the victims/families and the unsaved!

My prayer is that this becomes a community within the ELBC community and that every woman of ELBC will eventually join us.

Much love,

Welcome

Good morning!  Welcome to the ELBC Titus 2 blog!  It's amazing how technology will be used to facilitate the discussion of our book club.

Today at the luncheon, you will be introduced to the book entitled "True Woman 101: Divine Design" and how the study will take place.  I am so excited that we have this opportunity to study God's word while we get to know each other better.

Let's pray for each other, love each other, and enjoy our time together!
